Today, April. 25, the 87th presbytery voted against Amendment B, which would take out the current Presbyterian requirement that pastors, elders and deacons live in “fidelity within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman or chastity in singleness.” Surprisingly, it was the Presbytery of San Francisco that set up the amendment for defeat, by becoming the 86th presbytery to vote againstly the amendment. The Presbytery of Northern Plains cast the deciding vote today, though the official reporting has yet to be received.
