90 Minutes in Heaven is the story of a man who was involved in a car crash, declared dead and came back to life after 90 minutes. This book was a big help to Carol, Kimmy and me as we prepared for the death of Carol's father, earlier this summer. (SOLD OUT on the Booktable, but available online)
What does the Bible and Christianity teach about death and life after death? Those questions are best answered in this new book, by renowned New Testament scholar, N.T. Wright: Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church
One book that has helped me with this is The Reason for God, by a pastor, Timothy Keller.
Finally, I am not much of a fiction reader, but after reading enough reviews and seeing the book climb to the top of the NY Times Best Seller list (Trade paperbacks), I read the Shack.
I couldn't put it down. It is a compelling story of a man's journey away from God into a four-year period he calls, "the Great Sadness." He finds his way back to God, but only as he works through his grief, led by a trinity of characters.
